A Textured Hooded Cardigan and Matching Baby Booties

Mogjoohoi is a two-piece baby set consisting of a hooded cardigan and matching knitted booties. Its defining feature is a narrow geometric textured panel that runs up the centre back and continues over the hood. Stocking-stitch sections and garter-stitch borders keep the shape clean and let the texture stand out.

The cardigan body is worked flat in one piece up to the armholes. The fronts and back are then completed separately. The sleeves are picked up directly around the armholes and knitted in the round. Three button closures, a shaped hood and continuous I-cord edging complete the cardigan.

The booties begin with garter-stitch soles. Stitches are picked up around each sole, and the bootie is worked in the round on double-pointed needles. Decreases shape the toe. An eyelet row with a twisted tie, folded cuff and I-cord edge provide the finishing details.

The sample was knitted in Noble Nomads 100% cashmere with a yardage of approximately 200 m per 100 g / 219 yd per 3.5 oz. It uses the hand-dyed Indigo/Cedarwood colourway.

This pattern is suitable for knitters who can confidently work knit and purl stitches and have some experience with increases, decreases, slipped stitches, picking up stitches and knitting in the round. The recommended skill level is Intermediate.
