The natural fiber Mongolian camel wool, also known as camel hair, is obtained from the undercoat of the double-humped camel. This domesticated camel species is native to Mongolia and the surrounding regions. Due to its unique properties, camel wool is ideal for making clothing, especially in colder regions. Its high thermal insulation is due to the hollow fibers, which trap warm air, as well as its natural crimp for additional insulation. The wool is also characterized by its water resistance, which means that it retains its insulating properties even when damp.

Noble Camel:

The wool of the two-humped camels from the harsh Mongolian climate is characterized by its softness and length. Products made from camel wool are warm, light, flexible, and durable. The natural color of camel wool is mostly reddish brown to light brown with a yellowish sheen. There are more than 380,000 camels in Mongolia and 1400 tons of camel wool are produced annually. Camel wool can be divided into baby camel wool and adult camel wool according to its age. The wool of adult camels can be identified according to which part of the body it comes from, e.g. if it comes from the camel's rump, it is called female wool, and if it comes from the main body, it is called male wool. Camels that are up to three years old, on the other hand, are called baby camels. Their wool is very flexible and extremely soft, but the flock is shorter, so it should be sorted separately and the quality level of knitwear and textiles is no less high than that of goat cashmere products. On average, 1-3 year old camels can produce 2400–4500 grams of wool, while adult camels can produce 4600–8000 grams of wool annually. The average diameter of female wool is 17–25.8 micrometers with a length of 31.5–47.8 mm, while baby camel wool is between 16.1–23.8 micrometers. Mongolian camel wool is a durable, warm, insulating, breathable and luxurious natural fiber with anti-static or non-static properties and also contains therapeutic lanolin, which improves blood circulation and is hypoallergenic.
